Avenging Force

For anybody who came to our gig in April and enjoyed Avenging Force's set, this bloke has found a way to record them without disintegrating your video camera's microphone. It seems to involve standing inside a box.

I only know this as 'the long song'; it is amazing:

Playing out

It's been an aeon in internet time, but 15 days ago we played a show with Funsize Lions and Avenging Force.  Here are some stills from the night:

And it was all good.  No sounds recorded unfortunately.  I'm not going to write about the music because that would involve reviewing myself, and that's not allowed.

Thanks to the snappers; look them up.

Security Guard Week (pt.2)

A special post today - bringing the premiere of the remix that Stephen of the Funsize Lions has done of our song Security Guard.

I hope you like what he's done.

He's taken that 1978 sound and transported it to -- 1979! after a Cabs/Normal fashion.

Here are original and remix for thy lugholes:

AND - Funsize Lions will be one of the bands on the bill at OUR GIG on 23 April, two weeks from today.

It's going to be top of the tree and you should come along!

Part 3 will follow on Friday on some platform or other.

First 'n' more

There have been more firsts -

We've announced that 23rd April will be our first gig for nine years!

We've had our first national radio play (on 2 April, Gideon Coe, Radio 6)!

And this week is declared Security Guard week.  Listen to the first version of the week (the original) now:

First review!

We are in Das Klienicum:  been reliably informed that they are saying nice things … thanks!

Plastic and card artefact

Sorry I haven't posted anything for a while but - I'm back in action!

No MPs news this time but there should be something shortly.

Instead I'm going to big up another band because it's a nice thing to do.

Broken Arm's album is now available.  When I say 'now' I'm a bit late with this but, you know, we're clearly on our own schedule.

Guy of the band played in the superb Woman at our last gig (and their first gig) quite a long time ago. Unfortunately that word funky has been sullied but that is what they were, in the way James Brown understood it.  All Guy's bands have been tip-top, especially the criminally ignored The Static Waves.

This band is more directly rock than either of those and the lp was recorded by MJ of those psych-beasts the Hookworms at their Leeds studio and it's nice and cheap direct from the label, Gringo.

And that reminds me, keep getting better, Dom! (That's our bassist, he broke his arm you see.)
